The Senate voted Wednesday to clear a key hurdle and early nominate President Biden to nominate Eric Garcetti as ambassador to India, paving the way for a final confirmation vote later this afternoon.
The House of Representatives voted 52 to 42 to pass a filibuster against the former Los Angeles mayor’s nomination, suggesting that the previously troubled nomination has now won the support of a key demographic.
