On Wednesday, a pro-Trump super PAC said it was submitting a ethics complaint Against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, accusing him of running a “shadow presidential campaign” that violates state morality and election laws.
A 15-page draft letter from Make America Great Again Inc. asked the Florida ethics board to investigate DeSantis, who is widely expected to enter the 2024 presidential race.he is regarded as a former president donald trumpThe biggest contest in the Republican primary.
The letter states that if the committee finds that DeSantis violated Florida law, it should impose “the most severe penalty permissible” — including disqualification from voting.
“Governor DeSantis knew, or should have known, that his shadow presidential campaign was illegal in violation of federal election law, the Florida ethics law prohibiting illegal gifts from political committees, and the Florida ethics law prohibiting illegal lobbying payments ,”it says.

“Add this to the list of frivolous and politically motivated attacks,” communications director Taryn Fenske said in a statement to CNBC. “It is inappropriate to use a national morals complaint for partisan purposes,” she added.
The Florida Ethics Commission did not comment on the letter.
As DeSantis pens a new political memoir and begins a multi-state tour to promote it, it’s two of many clear signs that the governor is preparing to run for office across the country.
MAGA Inc.’s letter referred to a “personally lucrative book tour” as it alleged that DeSantis and his associated political committees and allies improperly accepted millions of dollars in gifts “clearly intended to ” influenced his eventual resignation as governor and his bid for president.

DeSantis is expected to hold off on announcing his presidential plans until the Florida legislature wraps up its current session in May.
But the letter argues that DeSantis is already the de facto presidential candidate and that his reluctance to formally announce this is “more than negligent.” Rather, it was “a coordinated effort designed specifically for him as immoral gifts, illegal campaign contributions and certain personal interests necessarily affecting his formal decision to resign under Florida’s resignation enforcement law,” Super Political Action Commission allegedly.
That law If two terms overlap, the officer is required to resign in order to run for another office.
