The house is located in the Highlands of Shelter Island, a small village in the town of Shelter Island in Suffolk. Known for its well-preserved Victorian homes, the neighborhood was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The property is just steps away from the Grand Avenue, which has a hardware store, post office, coffee shop, and a hotel in a building built in the 1870’s.
